Ioana Băltan
Biography
Ioana Băltan (b. 1990, Cluj-Napoca) works primarily in sculpture and installation, exploring systems of care, repair, and the social life of objects. Her practice frequently incorporates found industrial materials — wire mesh, rubber, cast resin — which she subjects to meticulous processes of transformation. She completed an MFA at the Royal College of Art, London, and has held residencies at the CCA Kitakyushu and the Headlands Center for the Arts.
Her work has been exhibited at IOMO Gallery; Tate Modern, London (Turbine Hall Commission, 2024); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; and the New Museum, New York. She lives and works between Bucharest and London.
