Emma Păvăloaia ↗
Biography
Emma Păvăloaia (b. 1987, Iași) is a painter whose work moves between figuration and abstraction, tracing the residue of the body in domestic and institutional space. Her canvases are built slowly, through cycles of erasure and accumulation, producing surfaces that hold the memory of previous states. She studied at the National University of Arts Bucharest and completed a residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam.
Păvăloaia’s work has been shown at IOMO Gallery, Bucharest; Künstlerhaus Stuttgart; Palazzo Grassi, Venice (group); and Bergen Kunsthall, among others. She lives and works in Bucharest.
